Historic Saddle: Al Brown, Dodge Stables & Dixiana
Saddlebred trainer Al Brown‘s straight head saddle, circa 1930’s-40’s. Known as “the best colt man in the US”, Brown worked at renowned Dodge Stables & Dixiana Farm, & is the man who started My My racking. It it not known for certain whether he rode her with this saddle, however he was using this saddle at the time. This beautiful Barnsby saddle, made in England, is still in riding condition. As is typical of the era, the saddle has a wider tree, suitable for the heavier withered horses of the 30’s. The twist is sized for a man. This saddle was also used by one of Tom Moore’s assistants to gait some colts at Arrowhead Farm in the 1990’s. (Tom hated that as he preferred everything to be like new!) Provenance (chain of ownership) will be provided with this wonderful part of Saddlebred history. $650.00
