The Lexington Junior League Horse Show, held on the historic Red Mile racetrack, is the first of the American Saddlebred’s Triple Crown shows. The Junior League posters with realistic artwork often sell out during the show & have become very collectible.  I believe this dynamic gaited horse art depicts Terri Chancellor on The Phoenix, & the other rider may be Mary Gaylord (email me if you have more correct info!) This is a wonderful piece of memorabilia for any Saddlebred lover’s collection, or an exciting horse gift for gaited horse fans.

Helen Hayse was a well-known painter of Saddlebreds & Thoroughbreds. She was formally trained & in her earlier years in NY City exhibited work with the Art Students League at the prestigious Salmagundi Club. When I visited her home in downtown Lexington in the late 1980’s, she showed me an incredible oil portrait of man which had been shown there - she had talents well beyond the horse pieces we all know & love.
