Triple Crown: Assault print by Milton Menasco
This is an older print of 1946 Triple Crown winner ASSAULT by noted Thoroughbred artist Milton Menasco.
Assault was bred by the renowned King Ranch in Texas, & sired by BOLD VENTURE, 1936 Kentucky Derby & Preakness Stakes winner. Assault raced from 1945-1950. Known as a horse who was all heart, he overcame a major hoof injury as a foal, had health problems throughout his career & limped at the walk & trot. He had a long rivalry with Handicap Champion Stymie, & was trained by the well-known trainer, Max Hirsch. Assault retired with earnings of $674,720.
Menasco had a great way of depicting thoroughbreds. This beautiful print of a Triple Crown winner, is wonderful for anyone who loves horse racing, makes a super horse gift, as well as a marvelous addition to anyone’s racing memorabilia collection. This print is a companion piece to Menasco’s Stymie print which is also available & will be posted soon.
