Saddlebred trainer Al Brown‘s straight head saddle, circa 1930’s-40’s. Known as “the best colt man in the US”, Brown worked at renowned Dodge Stables & Dixiana Farm, & is the man who started My My racking. This photo shows an old painted cast iron Saddlebred lamp from my personal collection. I do not know the age but here is the story of this treasure. From 1991-1992 my late husband Bruce Jones, a third generation Saddlebred trainer, was an assistant to Frank Bradshaw. Students of Saddlebred history, as well as of the different schools of Saddlebred training, will know Frank as the trainer of five-time World’s Grand Champion My My, as well as many other wonderful horses.
