Reading, Riding, & Reining

sand-wall-street-performance-2004002April 2010, From the laptop of Caryn Sappelli in Versailles, KY:
Right now I want to tell you about a great training philosophy I just read in the April issue of National Horseman. The article on Steve & May Chadick of Vantage Point Farm in Tomball, TX, was written by Mike Setzer. Steve & May said, “Following the philosophy of Lee Roby, we want our horses to think they are great. You can’t browbeat them and then expect them to perform well. A good show horse has to feel good and be secure.”

If only every horseman & horsewoman embraced this philosophy! I know this is nothing new, many of you already utilize encouraging methods, & sometimes a rank or spoiled horse requires a firm hand, but I just love to hear trainers saying something so positive.  I wish Steve & May continued success in the Saddlebred show horse world.

Best wishes for a fabulous spring & happy reading, riding, & reining!
